Eligibility Criteria For Direct Short Service Commission
Specific education and age limits are applicable to various departments for recruitment as officers of Pak Army through the Direct Short Service Commission. If you want to join the Army course of study, you must have 16 years of education (i.e., MA, MSc, or BS) in subjects like Computer, Mathematics, Geography, Islamic Studies, Urdu, and History. The age limit for this is 28 years.
Applicants to the legal profession (Law Officers) require an LLB degree and at least two years of experience with the Bar Council. For animal work, i.e., for Veterinary Medicine (RV&FC), a DVM degree is required, and candidates with an MSc or MPhil are preferred.
The age limit for civilians is 28 years, while the age limit for veterinary staff working in the military is 21 to 35 years. If you want to join as a Psychologist, you must have an MSc or BS Psychology degree and be at least 28 years old.
Academic Qualifications Required
- You must have at least 62.5% marks and a CGPA of 2.5 (out of 4) in any subject.
- For law officers and psychology candidates, 50% marks or 2.0 CGPA is sufficient.
- Third grade or D grade is not allowed at any level of education (from Matriculation to Master’s); there should be only one or two grades.
- Also, he must have done regular (not private) studies in a HEC or PEC-approved university, and the degree must have taken 4 years to be completed in full.
- The degree must be certified by HEC or PEC.
Direct Short Service Commission Registration 2025 and Preliminary Selection Procedure
- Registration through the internet: Candidates can register by visiting the website www.joinpakarmi.gov.pk. After completing the registration, the application form is available on the website, which the candidate must fill out themselves. The application form is issued within 5 to 7 working days.
- Exam Date and Time: The candidate has to indicate the roll number on the date and time given on the computer. This day will never change. Along with this, the candidate has to submit his/her original certificate (details are given in the notification).
- Technical skills: It is important for students to have at least some basic computer skills; registration and all examinations will be conducted electronically.

Academic intelligence test
- Exams/Information: The exam consists of MCQs and will be conducted by Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs).
- Pre-medical examination: Candidates must also pass a medical examination at the AS&RCs.
- Physical examination: Applicants must pass the following physical exams:
- 1.6 km run: completed in 9 minutes
- Total: 10 reps in 2 minutes
- Set: 10 in 2 minutes
- Chin-ups: 2 reps in 2 minutes
- ISSB Exam: Candidates selected in the first round will be notified through the call letter and the website of the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB).
- GHQ Selection Committee: The successful ISSB candidates will have to appear before the Selection Committee at GHQ, where the final selection will take place.
Final Selection and Training Process for DSSC in the Pakistan Army
- Candidates recommended by the Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB) will undergo a medical examination. The test will be conducted at the nearest military hospital (CMH).
- ISSB shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the General Selection Board (GHQ) at the Army Selection and Recruitment Center (AS&RC).
- Note: No Travel Allowance (TA) or Daily Allowance (DA) will be provided to the candidates.
- The final selection will be made based on the performance of the Headquarters (GHQ) candidates.
Military Training: The selected candidates will undergo six months of military training and will be awarded the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul (PMA Kakul).

- Applicants must submit the following documents to the Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs).
- Original academic transcript or transcript along with two attested copies
- Candidates working in government offices or departments are required to submit a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the concerned
- A certified copy of your address.
- Copies of identity cards and certificates received from NADRA
- Four color, front and back fixed images
- Candidates must bring their postgraduate degree from HEC, PEC, or PVMC
- Successful candidates will be issued an application form at the recruiting school. All details must be filled out accurately and completely

Selection of candidates for the DSSC involves a rigorous process that first involves an intelligence test, consisting of verbal and non-verbal questions, such as vocabulary knowledge, fluency, and sequencing.
This is followed by a test on a specific subject or knowledge from a field relevant to the candidate (such as computers, medicine, mathematics, veterinary medicine, or psychology) and usually consists of 40 to 50 MCQs.
- This is followed by a physical examination of height, weight, vision, blood pressure, and body composition.
- The physical test consists of a 1.6 km run (in 9 minutes), 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 2 chin-ups.
- Successful applicants are invited to the ISSB, where they participate in brainstorming sessions, groups, individuals, and interviews over four days.
- After the ISSB, successful applicants undergo a final interview at the GHQ and then a final medical examination at the CMH.
- The selected candidates are sent to the Pakistan Army Academy, Kakul, for six months of military training.
