AFNS Career Selection Process 2025
The Pakistani female who wants to join the AFNS career must know the full procedure to join the Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute to serve the Pakistan nation as a nurse. Below is the complete information and the selection process.
The candidates must visit the Army Selection & Recruitment Centers or the Army Selection Center to complete the registration and selection formalities. The medical assessments are conducted at the Army Selection Centers Hospital as part of the Army Selection process.
Eligibility Criteria for Joining AFNS 2025
- The very first condition to apply for the AFNS is that the female should be a citizen of Pakistan, fulfilling the Nationality requirement.
- The females who belong to the domicile of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also eligible for this post.
- Only female candidates can apply, as per the Gender criteria.
- The female aspirants can be married or unmarried, and both are eligible for AFNS careers.
- For BSc Nursing (BSN), the Age of the woman should be between 17 years to 25 years. For the trained nurse, the Age should be between 18 years to 28 years.
- Students must have passed the Matriculation Certificate in the medical field with a minimum of 60 percent marks and 50 percent in the F.Sc pre-medical exam for BSc Nursing.
- The trained nurse should be a diploma holder in nursing and must provide Degree Completion proof or Hope Certificates if awaiting results.
- The Height of the candidate for both posts must be equal to or above 5 feet, as per Body Requirements.
- The BMI (Body Mass Index) must meet the necessary health standards, and candidates may need to submit Body Mass Index Documents during the Recruitment process.
- Applicants must provide their National Identity Card, or Form B if underage, along with an NOC (No Objection Certificate) if they are already serving in any government institution.
- The Registration Process for AFNS includes applying through the official website of Join Pak Army and completing the necessary steps to enroll in Training Academies, Training Courses, and the Training Program required for military nursing professionals.
Online Registration Date 2025
The registration date for the initial test will start from July 2, 2025, and the end date will be August 9, 2025. The Test will start in the middle of August 2025
Online Computerized Test
- After the successful registration, the candidate will get the online computerized test date by accessing the exam slip of the AFNS.
- The online computerized test is divided into two sections: The Intelligence Test, which includes both Intelligence Assessments such as the verbal Intelligence Tests, and the Non-Verbal Intelligence Test.
- The second section is the Academic Test, which includes English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects. Some General Knowledge questions are also asked in the initial computerized test, mostly in the form of MCQs.
Basic Initial Medical
After the online computerized test, the female candidate is called for the Basic Medical Test to meet the medical fitness standards. In the Initial Test, the doctors check the height, weight, and eyesight. The Medical Examination at this stage is very short, and only two to four things are checked before moving forward to the next step.
During this Examination Process, the Mass Index is assessed using the BMI Calculator to ensure the candidate meets the required fitness criteria. If a candidate does not meet the standards, they may fall under Ineligibility Conditions. However, in some cases, they may have the option to appeal through the Appeal Medical Board for reconsideration.
Interview
The candidate who successfully did their initial medical then the interview process will begin. They send the call letter to the interviewer. In the interview, they asked the basic questions from the biology mostly. The other subjects are also important including physics, chemistry, and general knowledge. Mostly they judge the Candidate’s confidence and the power of the communication skills. The Shortlisted candidate from the interview will be called for the next step.
Final Medical
After clearing and being shortlisted, the interviewees are only called for the final Medical Examination. The final Examination Process is very important and tough in this regard. In the final Medical Examination, the doctor checks each and everything of the candidate.
The final Medical Examination for the AFNS candidate is conducted at the Pakistan Army’s designated medical centers. This stage comes after clearing the Initial Test. This Examination Process includes the physical fitness checkup, all the Basic Medical Test procedures such as blood tests, urine tests, chest X-rays, and the ECG to check whether the candidate is fully fit for this post. The doctors also check the eyesight, hearing, dental health, and overall physical fitness, including the Mass Index using the BMI Calculator.
The female candidate who wants to join this post must take the proper diet plan. She must follow a stable food plan schedule to fulfill the basic to advanced medical criteria and avoid Ineligibility Conditions to join the Armed Forces Nursing Service Department in the Pakistan Army. AFNS Training & Career Opportunities
After successfully clearing the final medical the last step is to get the joining letter for the post of nursing in the AFNS to join the Pakistan Army. Within the two weeks after the final medical the selected candidate gets the call letter for the training of the nurse.
Salary and Allowances
The starting Stipend during the training is around 25,000 to 35,000 per month. After completing the training program and after getting commissioning, this Salary increments to 60,000 to 90,000 per month. The higher Rank officers will get a higher salary as compared to the captain rank, following a structured Salary Scale.

Uniform
- The Dress Code of the AFNS is the same as the uniform of the other commissioned Service Members of the Pakistan Army.
- The training uniform is a white shalwar kameez with a dupatta. Black shoes are allowed during the training process, and the Insignia is not allocated during training.
- After the training process, they get the Khaki uniform similar to the other officers. They also get the Rank and the relevant badges, which are displayed on the shoulders. The black boots are allowed.
- For any functions or ceremonial events, the white formal uniform with the maroon scarf/dupatta is allowed, following the official Dress Code of Service Members with appropriate Ranks and Insignia.
Role and Responsibilities of AFNS Nursing
Providing Medical Care: They are responsible for providing basic Healthcare to the Pakistan army soldiers and their families as well as civilians, ensuring proper Nursing Care for all Patients within the Healthcare System.
Assisting in Surgeries: The AFNS candidate also supports their senior doctors and surgeons during the operations and other medical procedures in the Military Hospitals, particularly in the OT (Operation Theater), fulfilling their Duties and Responsibilities as part of their Nursing Roles.
Emergency & Trauma Care: The nurse is also responsible for providing the service at the time of critical care treatment during war, disasters, and other field operations, especially in ICU settings.
